So for a while now we have been looking at different alternatives for mounting the Skoog. The diverse range of abilities, needs and playing styles has always meant that this was a rather tall order. Another factor that always comes into play is expense.
But I think we have found a method that will suit a broad range of applications and is still kind to the wallet!
It is all based around a Suction mount. The kind of thing people use for moving glass panels etc.. My concern has always been in ‘interfering’ with the Skoog’s look / design to create a mounting solution. But with the suction mount it simply attaches to the SKoog with a minimum of fuss.
I first thought about the suction mount a wile back but had problems sourcing an integrated unit… until I cam across the fine people at RAM mount. It was a chance encounter on the world wide web but serendipitous none the less.
It will not suit absolutely everyone but is, I believe, a pretty good solution for most, and it is cheap, and easy to use!
So how does it work: I am going to show you how to use the basic set up in this blog post with some nice pictures too.
We are now selling a mount kit from our site but these elements are all available individually from the RAM site too. This is just a general mount solution and it’s unspecialised nature means this is reasonably priced. To create the mount you will need the following components form RAM mount. The suction mounts require assembly using a screwdriver.
MOUNT YOKE CLAMP 1″ BALL
DOUBLE SOCKET ARM SHORT FOR 1″ BALL
TWIST LOCK SUCTION MOUNT WITH 1″ BALL
So here goes
And there you have it – you can now position your Skoog and lock it into place . If you need to attach to metal tubing or a frame of some sort do have a good look through the R-A-M website amongst the universal mounts pages – stick to the 1″ ball section.
So for this kit you need:
1x [RAM-B-121B] MOUNT YOKE CLAMP 1″ BALL
1x [RAM-B-201-A] DOUBLE SOCKET ARM SHORT FOR 1″ BALL
2x [RAM-B-224-1] TWIST LOCK SUCTION MOUNT WITH 1″ BALL
Happy Skooging all
