Music – Disability – Assistive Technology – Skoog – a new musical instrument

Great little video showing Skoog being used with Trabasack .  Here the Skoog player is exploring the midi tom instrument on the Skoog.   The trabasack has had a real positive impact for this pupil in terms of accessing the Skoog and giving him more independence when using the Skoog. This video of the P5 assembly performance at Glaitness school has put a smile on my face today.  Great work everyone.  This is inclusive music making in action with the Skoog sitting comfortably with acoustic instruments in a group performance.  I must say I am really rather proud.  Well done to everyone again, and thanks [...]

The Skoog at BETT 2010: Check out 7m54s – 9m33s: The Skoog on Teachers TV . And thanks to the kind visitor to our stand yesterday who described The Skoog as “The pearl of the show”.

David has been working hard adding new voices and here is a wee demo of the bass we now have. You can change the pick up and pluck position for different tone and we are working on the sustain control.

A quick improvisation on the skoog using the vibes.

As the instrumental range of The Skoog expands its nice to show how the different instruments afford different action capabilities. This percussive Marimba invites striking and tapping – and although not shown here means you can shake and roll The Skoog and acheive some very interesting results.

here is a new clip of the skoog in trumpet mode, me having a go at  playing the main theme from Miles Davis’s All blues. The trumpet model is one of the more sensitive voices in the skoogs palette.  giving a really expansive range of expressive possibilities as well as challenges.

Here’s a quick demo of The Skoog playing the flute along with “Killer” by Quincey Jones. Enjoy.
