Nugget 4 – We got Rhythm!

Published in a special edition of the German Encyclopaedia of Neuroscience, this next nugget is a short article on rhythm. It brings together a few of my lines of thought on rhythm.  The way we create rhythm underpins all human action. This article examines this notion in the context of  music therapy and how rhythm provides a structure in which can play, explore and share emotions.

There is reference to the long line of research we have been doing at PMARC in relation to motor dysfunction (such as Parkinsons) and the use of acoustic guides to help improve movement and improve quality of life.

It also consolidates some thoughts on the bodies ‘unit’ of time being one of action!

So here it is – My thanks to Bodo Frank who was very much the driving force in producing this article and the issue in which it appeared.
